"When caring for his patients, he ensures that he explains their condition and treatment options in fine detail, even providing visuals to help patients fully understand."
Dr. Mead is originally from Pennsylvania and graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He earned his medical degree from New York Medical College where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. After residency, Dr. Mead completed a fellowship in Lower Extremity Reconstruction at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, CA, where he trained extensively in hip and knee replacement, reconstruction, and advanced osteochondral joint preservation techniques. He is passionate about restoring function through engineering and implant design.
Dr. Mead finds it rewarding to help patients return to activities that they love doing but once thought were too painful or difficult to do. He has special interests in primary and revision arthroplasty surgery, including the anterior and posterior approach to hip replacement, and minimally invasive techniques. Through total joint replacements, he enables patients to return to the activities that bring them joy and finds it most satisfying to hear when patients are now able to play with their grandchildren.
Dr. Mead values the importance of providing his patients with quality care for their individual needs. When caring for his patients, he ensures that he explains their condition and treatment options in fine detail, even providing visuals to help patients fully understand. Dr. Mead’s desire to educate patients overflows outside of the clinic, and he looks for opportunities to provide community lectures at convenient locations for all.
Dr. Mead is an outdoor enthusiast and loves to travel. He enjoys mountaineering, climbing, skiing, camping, and backpacking. One of his greatest memories is summiting Kilimanjaro with his wife. When opportunities allow, their dog Cooper joins them on their adventures.
