"Being able to interact with people and explain what we are doing for them and why, involving them actively in their care, is what I like best about what I do."
Dr. Knight grew up in Lafayette, CA, and had many orthopedic injuries himself during his time playing sports. He decided orthopedics would be a rewarding career to pursue.
Dr. Knight has consistently been a leader in the local medical community. He is in demand as a speaker on orthopedic topics for the public and medical community. He has served as Chairman of the Orthopaedic Department of John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and is currently Vice-Chairman of Orthopedics at San Ramon Regional Medical Center in San Ramon, CA. He is the Past President of Muir Medical Group IPA and is the current President of the Irish American Orthopaedic Society.
Dr. Knight’s goal is to provide each patient with a complete evaluation of their orthopedic problem, to discuss all treatment options and to quickly return to his patients to a healthy, pain-free active lifestyle. He emphasizes conservative treatment prior to recommending surgery and minimally invasive techniques are used when surgery is required.
He has great respect for the patient’s time and is pleased to be able to offer testing, diagnosis, and surgery as needed, in one location. He believes in providing the finest orthopedic care possible to his patients. He also believes continuing education is the key to providing excellent, ongoing care.
Dr. Knight has combined his passion for sports with community service. He served as team physician at Foothill High School in Pleasanton, CA for 20 years, team physician at Diablo Valley College for 10 years and has been the team “Doc” at San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, CA since 2001. In addition to working with the athletes, Dr. Knight serves as an advisor to the San Ramon Valley Unified School District Sports Medicine student trainer program, frequently appearing in the classroom for lectures and discussions.
