Dr. Michael Michlitsch of Muir Orthopaedic Specialists talks about what to expect if your shoulder has been separated.
Question: What are you supposed to expect with a shoulder separation?
Answer: For most types of shoulder separations, rest and time are sufficient to allow healing of the injured ligaments to occur. In sever separations, pain and/or instability my necessitate surgical repair. Players with injuries to throwing shoulders typically require longer recovery time. However, injuries that don’t require surgery will allow a player to return somewhere between 2-4 weeks.
