Approach to Treatment

As an athlete myself, I understand what it takes to get you back to your sport after an injury. Whether your injury warrants surgical treatment or more conservative measures, rest assured that I will work with you to get you back to “your game.”

Dr. Toma has built a reputation as a caring and compassionate surgeon with outstanding technical skills. He will be your advocate, provide you with the best care available and educate you on all of the current treatment options. He is proud to provide quality care with the most cutting-edge procedures available.

Dr. Toma treats each case with enthusiasm and optimism. His jovial personality complements the cutting-edge medicine he provides, and his patient’s appreciate his openness and attentive nature. Dr. Toma’s greatest satisfaction comes from witnessing his patients’ progress as they overcome challenges and return to their favorite activities.

His goal is to take an interactive approach to caring for patients. Education is a cornerstone of his practice as he believes that well-informed patients make the best decisions. Dr. Toma will explain your condition or injury to you as well as the treatment plan options available in terms that are understandable in order to tailor a treatment plan that will meet your goals as well as your occupational, recreational and lifestyle needs.

Dr. Toma believes that many orthopedic conditions can be managed non-operatively, and is an advocate of physical therapy and other conservative treatments. However, if surgery is necessary, he utilizes minimally invasive techniques if at all possible to reduce pain, scarring, and functional limitations.
